A blog is the perfect way to engage with your clients and get the attention of potential clients.

Blogging has changed the way businesses communicate with their current clients and future prospects. Instead of just talking to them, businesses engage, converse and interact through blogs. Adding business blogging to your digital marketing plan is a more personalized and effective way of getting the attention of your targeted audience.

What does it take to have a successful blog? There are a couple of important keys to success in blogging:


It Takes Time & CommitmentBlogging takes time, commitment and discipline to make it work. There is no getting away from it. The majority of bloggers put in less than an hour a day. The important thing is that they put in time each and every day by researching, reading and writing. To keep your readers engaged, try to release posts at the same time. Whether that means every day, a certain day of the week or once a month, the point is to make sure it’s consistent.

Read. The more you read and research, the better writer you will be. By reading other blogs you will begin to understand the mind of a blogger. You’ll learn how to get your point across and how to present information in interesting ways, as well as get comfortable with how the blogging world works.

Knowledge. Read, learn and present information from your point of view by diving into your subject. Blogging keeps you aware of your surroundings and up-to-date on the latest news about your niche market. You might not be an expert now, but will become one if you read and pay attention to what is going on in a particular industry.

Be Interesting. Write formally, but naturally. Your readers want valuable, fresh and remarkable information. Don’t just report the hard facts, but rather share your enthusiasm and make it contagious. A blog is a social medium. Use the same tone you would use talking to someone on the street or to a colleague. Let your personality shine through and give your blog character.

It’s Not All About You. Always write to engage with your visitors and to create a loyal following that will return regularly to read about what you have to say. What topics create the most interest in terms of traffic and comments? You can also dig deeper into these with follow-up postings.

If you continue to write great blog posts that engage your readers, more and more people will want to listen to your message. You can build a loyal following that will help reach your goals.
