Storify: Turning Business News into an Engaging Story

Turn business news, events or even product messages into a piece of work everyone will want to read.

At first glance, Storify may seem like other social tools used strictly in your spare time to share your vacation photos in a neat and interesting way with your close group of friends. But, when you look at Storify through the eyes of a seasoned digital marketer you see one thing – opportunity.

Named by Time Magazine as one of the best websites of 2011, Storify allows you to create “story” posts using various social media elements including tweets, Facebook or Flickr photos, YouTube videos and more. The drag and drop functionality of the tool allows for simple use, and you can even notify people you’ve included in the project for better engagement. It has recently added a Storify iPad app, so you can even take Storify on the road.

Here are some ideas of how to use Storify in your digital marketing plan:

  • Use customer sentiments and do a “review” type of story on a particular product or brand. Make your customers part of the story too!
  • Drop in pictures and tweets from a business event or conference (by you or one that you’ve attended), and try to position yourself as the go-to source for a specific topic.
  • Pitch your business plans and product ideas in an engaging and entertaining manner to customers, clients or business partners

Storify has been used by a number of journalists to tell news as it happens, and to spread stories around the world using text, video and pictures quickly – no matter where they are.
